Adrenaline junkies, this is your weekend.
This Friday and Saturday, some of the fastest and loudest machines on the planet will be in Kindersley for the Kindersley Dirt Drags and Truck and Tractor Pulls at the East-Forty racing complex just five miles east of Kindersley on Highway 7.
Drag racers will come from all over Western Canada and deep in the United States to take a run at the 200-foot track, including Kindersley’s own Good to Go Racing team, who will be racing the Perfect Storm running at 3,600 horsepower thanks to the Blown Alcohol 521 cubic inch Brad Anderson Hemi; and of course, Second Chance, a blown alcohol car that driver Shayne Neigum will try to set a new record in, trying to run the length of the track in less than two – count them, two – seconds. Meaning the car will hit around the 135-mph mark.
Neigum, one of the main organizers of the event, says that he’s excited for the event, especially having to take last year off.
“Obviously it’s very exciting. There will be lots of big action and lots of horsepower,” he said. “It is really great to bring this level of entertainment to Kindersley. To see this magnitude of a show you would have to travel a thousand miles or more.”
