The top five teams in the Sask. Valley Hockey League are separated by just six points.

The Kyle Elks lost their second games of the season to the Eston Ramblers last week and the Outlook Ice Hawks have won two straight games going into this weekend’s action. Both teams have 18 points, but Kyle has a game in hand, having played 11 games and Outlook playing 12.

Eston is the hottest team right now, having won their last six games.

Here’s a look at the most recent games: Dec. 20 – Beechy 8 in Outlook 9 and Kyle 12 in Elrose 3. Dec. 22 – Kenaston 4 in Elrose 7; Eston 6 in Kyle 4 and Outlook 4 in Delisle 2. Dec. 23 0 Kenaston 2 in Central Butte 6.

Games coming up this week: Dec. 29 – Central Butte in Loreburn and Elrose in Kyle. Jan. 3 – Loreburn in Kenaston.

Standings coming into this week: 1. Kyle 9 wins, 2 loses and 0 overtime losses, 18 points. 2. Outlook – 9-3-0-18. 3. Eston 8-2-0-16. 4. Beechy 7-3-1-15. 5. Central Butte 6-3-0-12. 6. Delisle 4-8-0-8. 7. Loreburn 2-8-0-4. 8. Elrose 2-8-0-4. 9. Kenaston 1-10-0-2.

Leading the points race is Jonathan Redlick of the Beechy Bombers, who has 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points in just 11 games this season. Second is Brett Boehm of Kyle, who has 12 goals and 20 assists in just nine games. Steve Dasilva of Beechy is third with 31 points, followed by Brennan Bosovich of Kyle with 30 points.

In the Sask. West Hockey League, the Wilkie Outlaws continue to reign supreme, winning all 14 games they’ve played this season in a very impressive fashion.

They’ve outscored their opponents by 66 goals, scoring 107, while allowing just 41 along the way.

Macklin is second with 22 points in 14 games, followed by Kindersley with 16 points.

Scores from recent games: Dec. 20 – Luseland 5 in Kindersley 7. Dec. 22 – Kindersley 8 in Biggar 9 OT; Wilkie 8 in Luseland 2; and Macklin 8 in Unity 6. Dec. 23 – Biggar 2 in Wilkie 9 and Luseland 5 in Kindersley 9.

Games coming up this weekend: Dec. 29 – Eatonia in Kerrobert and Unity will be in Kindersley. Dec. 30 – Kerrobert in Unity and Eatonia in Kindersley.

Leading the points race this season is Behn Robertson of the Unity Miners, who in 14 games has scored 18 times and chipped in 25 assists for an impressive 43 points. In second is Luseland’s Kelsey Muench, who has scored 10 times and chipped in 31 assists for 41 points in just 12 games.
