The West Central Bantam Wheat Kings are in the North Division final in a battle with the regular season champion, Saskatoon Outlaws.

The Outlaws drew first blood in this best-of-three series winning 1-0 in Saskatoon March 11.

The Wheat Kings were going to try and even things up in game two, played Wednesday in Dodsland. If they were successful in that game, they will go to a game three, slated for tonight in Saskatoon.

They advanced to the final with an 8-2 victory over Prince Albert in game three of their series played March 9 in Dodsland.

In this game, a penalty-filled affair, Prince Albert’s goals were the book ends, the first and final goals of the game. It was all Wheat Kings in between. Scoring for the home side were Kyle Heintz (three) with singles added by Levi Brewer, Logan Linklater, Gavin Halter-Metcalf, Jack Hartsook and Tylin Hilbig.

Shots on goal were 40-28 in favour of the Wheat Kings.

The Outlaws defeated the Humboldt Broncos in their semifinal series to advance.

In the south division final, the Regina Monarchs defeated Swift Current in two straight games in the South Division final and now await the Northern final winners.

Midget AA female

The West Central Wheat Kings fell short of their provincial quest.

They fell to the Saskatoon Impact two games to one in their best-of-three semifinal series.

The Wheat Kings had won game one, with the Impact replying with a win in game two.

In this third game, played in Saskatoon March 8, the Impact were flying high and outshot the Wheat Kings 34-21.

The score was tied 2-2 after the first period of play with Keely Anderson and Elena Smith scoring goals for the Wheat Kings.

There was no scoring in the second and in the third, the Impact were able to score two quick ones early in the period to take a 4-2 lead. Anderson scored her second of the game at the 15:51 mark of the period.

The Saskatoon Impact and Saskatoon Legends were tied at one in the best-of-three finals. Game 3 was scheduled for this past Wednesday.

Peewees

The West Central Wheat Kings lost out to the Tisdale Ramblers in the Centre Four Hockey League semifinals, losing two straight.

The Ramblers moved on battle Prince Albert in the finals, where they ended up winning in two straight games to claim the championships.
