No love lost! The Wilkie Outlaws and the Kindersley Red Lions are in the midst of a best-of-five final series for the SWHL league championship. The Outlaws took game one last Sunday in Kindersley by a score of 6-3. Game 2 was scheduled for this past Wednesday back in Wilkie.

The Wilkie Outlaws had a 1-0 series lead over the Kindersley Red Lions after a 6-3 win in Kindersley last Sunday in the SWHL final. Game two was scheduled to have been played back in Wilkie Wednesday night. No other dates or times were posted prior to deadline.

In game one of the series, the Outlaws took advantage of an undisciplined Kindersley team, who were dinged with seven straight minor penalties in the first and second period.

The Outlaws were able to light the lamp three times on the power play and they scored three unanswered in the middle frame to get the win.

They outshot the Red Lions 37-29 in this tilt.

Already without the services of injured defenceman Cody Hobbs and Shayne Neigum, both with injuries, Wednesday they had to play without player Jesse Gramlich and Coach Wayne Samson who were both slapped with one game suspensions after a late hit, with just four seconds remaining in Sunday’s game.

Provincials

There are just two SWHL teams remaining in the hunt for a provincial title.

The Outlaws are also playing in the Senior A Provincial North Finals against the Prairie Outlaws.

Wilkie lost game one 5-3 in Waldheim last week. Game 2 will be played this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Wilkie. Game three, if necessary, will be played Sunday in Waldheim.

The Eatonia Huskies lost game one of their South Final in the Provincial C division and have to dig their way back in. They lost game one, 2-1 to the Theodore Buffalos in overtime last week. Game 2 will be played Saturday in Eatonia starting at 8 p.m. Game 3, if necessary, will be played back in Eatonia on March 18th.
