The Kyle Elks won two titles last week.

The Elks won the Sask. Valley Hockey League championship over the Eston Ramblers in four games and won the Senior D provincial title as well over the Edam Three Stars.

These two championships capped off a great season for the team that finished with an overall 38-4 record this season.

In the league playoffs, the Elks defeated the defending champion Ramblers 7-5 on their home ice in game four, March 28th.

Jesse Shynkaruk had five goals and one assist to lead the way for the Elks. Darby Crozier and Brett Boehm each added singles.

Goaltender Matt Richard had 25 shots fired at him, while Tyrell King faced 46 shots in the Ramblers net.

Scoring for the Ramblers were Justin Williams (2) and singles were added by Joe Matus, Brandon Kuse and Brett Howe.

Looking back, the Elks won game one 9-3 and game two 3-2. The Ramblers did come back to win game three 4-2 in Kyle.

Kyle’s Jesse Shynkaruk led the team in playoff points with 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points. Brett Boehm also had 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists).

Goaltender Matt Richard had an outstanding playoff run, finishing with a 2.38 GAA and a .910 save percentage.

Kyle’s playoff run also included series against Elrose and Delisle.

Eston made it to the finals after defeating Kenaston and Central Butte.

Leading the way in scoring for the Ramblers was defenceman Jesse Duchscherer, who had nine goals and eight assists for 17 points.

In the provincial D finals, Kyle defeated the Edam Three Stars 4-3 in overtime their second game of the best-of-three series played March 31st in Edam.

Kyle had one game one at home 9-2.

To get to the finals, Kyle defeated Craik, Davidson, Strasbourg and Radville.

Beechy wins Senior B title

The Beechy Bombers are Provincial B champions.

The Bombers defeated Balcarres on the road 6-1 March 29 to claim the championship in game two of their best of three series.

They had earlier defeated Balcarres 10-2 in game one March 24 in Beechy.

To get to the finals, their journey started against Biggar, whom they defeated in two straight games advancing to the semifinals against Outlook, whom they defeated in three games.

This was the first provincial title for the Bombers since 1966.
