It’s time to dust off the ball gloves and cleats and hit the diamonds.

This year, the Sask-Alta Baseball League will consist of eight teams with each team playing 14 games (home-and-home series).

“It should be another strong season,” said Eddie Gergely, league vice-president. “We have the two-time champs, they Yard Goats and Gull Lake beat Shaunavon at provincials. There will be a lot of good ball being played again.”

The Burstall Braves had to drop out of the league this season due to a lack of players.

Six of the remaining players from the Braves have joined the Richmound Rockets, who were also a little short of players.

The season will kick off  March 9 with the Gull Lake Greyhounds travelling to take on the two-time defending champion Swift Current Yard Goats.

Week 1 will finish up with the Climax Cardinals travelling to Shaunavon to take on the Badgers and the Richmound Rockets will be in Cabri to take on the league finalist River Rats.

The Maple Creek Mohawks will travel to Medicine Hat to take on the Vipers in these two teams first action, on May 14th.

The final regular season games will be played July 12, followed by the championship weekend tournament.
