The new and improved Leader and District Integrated Healthcare Facility will deliver health services in one location, improving patient access and quality care to residents. Public tours of the new facility will be available on September 19 and 20. No advance sign-up is required.

The tours will provide an opportunity for the public to receive an advanced internal viewing of the beautiful new facility prior to occupancy. The project included renovations and expansion of the existing Western Senior Citizens Home long-term care facility to include acute care, community health services, primary health care and ambulance services. The facility’s design incorporates input from staff, physicians, patients and family representatives.

The walking tours will be approximately 30 minutes in length. They are scheduled for September 19: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and September 20: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“With the move-in date occurring weeks away this fall, there’s a great deal of excitement for our staff, physicians and public to tour the new building and occupy the new space,” said Brenda Schwan, Executive Director of Integrated Rural Health in Swift Current for the Saskatchewan Health Authority. “This facility would not have been possible without the support of the Leader community and we are pleased to offer this opportunity to tour the building for everyone to see what will soon be available to the area’s residents.”

Once the new facility opens in late September, the phone numbers for services will be changing. The numbers are changing as follows: Hospital: 306-628-5500, Primary Healthcare: 306-628-5510 and Long-term care: 306-628-5540.

Planning is underway to move all departments currently remaining in the old Leader Hospital, the Primary Health Clinic and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) building into the new space at the Leader and District Integrated Healthcare Facility. The move-in is scheduled to occur at the end of the month.
