Hollywood Dusty Adonis (HDA) of Eston is preparing for a return to the ring. He will be performing in one week at an wrestling event in Kindersley.

The local wrestler is in a show on Nov. 9 at the Elks Hall in Kindersley. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the in-ring action will get started at 7 p.m. The professional wrestling event is being presented by Canadian Wrestling’s Elite (CWE).

According to information online, the CWE was launched in January 2009. The show is part of the Struttin’ & Cuttin’ Tour, and it features a special appearance by the iconic Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, who first made his name in World Wrestling Entertainment beside the likes of Hulk Hogan.

The CWE card in Kindersley also features names including Saskatchewan’s Crazed Cowboy Jacob Creed, “The Belgian Bull” Robin Lekime, The Japanese Beast Shigehiro Irie and Hotshot Danny Duggan, who is the CWE Champion.

Dustin Meyer, a resident of the Eston area, is HDA and the semi-retired wrestler spent a majority of his professional wrestling career in Alberta performing for Stampede Wrestling and the Prairie Wrestling Alliance. He held multiple championships in both.

Since he retired from performing full-time in 2015, Meyer has entered the squared circle three times. In an interview, he said he has always planned on wresting in the odd show and he decided to accept a spot on a card close to home.

“They were doing (a show) in Kindersley and they asked me, and I thought about it for a month,” he said of CWE, recognizing that he decided to accept the match because he still has the passion to step in the ring.

The local performer said he has wrestled on a show featuring Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake (Ed Leslie) in the past, and he is well aware of the WWE icon’s history in the profession. The HDA character is Meyer’s bread an butter, but he has performed as a wide range of characters in the past including as Dusty “The Barber” Adonis.

He said he does not know a lot about the CWE promotion, but the company is busy because the show in Kindersley is one of 32 shows in 32 days. Meyer said he has not been told much about the event, but he is itching to get back in the ring.

“I’m really looking forward to it (and) I’m excited,” he said, recognizing that he stays active and he believes he is in good enough shape to put on a good show for a crowd. “I love to entertain and I love to perform.”

Meyer said he might not be as fast and strong as when he was performing regularly, but he believes he is as capable as ever when it comes to entertaining an audience. The performer has been preparing for the event by working out regularly and by doing yoga and karate.

Tickets for the show are available at cwetickets.com and at Twisted Scissors in Kindersley, but Meyer also has tickets for people in Eston and area. He added that the show next Friday will be “fun for the whole family.”
