The Wilkie Outlaws and Kindersley Sr. Klippers continue to set themselves apart from the rest of the competition in the Sask West Hockey League.

All six SWHL teams have hit or passed the quarter pole of the 20-game season. Wilkie (7-0) and Kindersley (6-0) are still undefeated and the two teams could be on the collision course for a mid-December match up of undefeated teams. The game is scheduled for Dec. 15 in Wilkie.

Although the league’s top two teams are perfect this season, they have both been in close games. Wilkie needed overtime on Nov. 23 to defeat the Biggar Nationals by a score of 3-2 and the Outlaws just squeaked by with a 5-4 win over the Macklin Mohawks on Dec. 2 in Macklin. Kindersley’s first game of the season was a close 4-3 win in Biggar and the Sr. Klippers won 6-5 in overtime on Nov. 10 in Macklin.

Biggar (4-2-1) is the only other SWHL team with a winning record, so the Nationals have a lock on third place. The Unity Miners (2-4) are in fourth, Macklin (0-4-1) is in fifth and the winless Luseland Mallards (0-7) are looking for their first win and points of the 2018-19 season.

There were four games on the schedule last weekend including Wilkie’s 5-4 win in Macklin on Sunday. On Nov. 30, the Outlaws beat the Mallards by a score of 10-2 in Wilkie while the Sr. Klippers beat the Miners by a score of 7-3 on home ice in Kindersley.

The Nationals doubled up the Mohawks by a score of 4-2 on Dec. 1 on the road in Macklin. There are three games on the schedule this weekend and two of them are in Kindersley. Wilkie is in Luseland and Unity returns to Kindersley in games tonight starting at 8:30 p.m., and Biggar is in Kindersley tomorrow night with a start time of 8 p.m.

Wilkie’s Brett Harrison is running away with the scoring title with 28 points (16G, 12A) so far. Brock Harrison of Wilkie is second with 21 points (4G, 17A), Rory Gregoire of Wilkie is third with 20 points (10G, 10A).
