While the West Central Bantam Wheat Kings had been idle until last night, the Peewee Wheat Kings extended their winning streak to six games.

The players have been responding well to what the coaches ask of them, said Peewee Wheat King head coach Brett Sautner of their performance.

The Bantam Wheat Kings were to take on the Stallions in Saskatoon on Tuesday evening, after press time for this issue.

They are to host the Saskatoon Maniacs in Kerrobert next Saturday and the Saskatoon Outlaws in Rosetown on Sunday.

The Peewee Wheat Kings were to play games in Tisdale this coming Friday and Saturday and in Melfort on Sunday and, going by recent games, haven’t had any problem winning on the road.

They hammered the Humboldt Broncos 12-2 in Humboldt last Saturday and went on to Melfort, where on Sunday they whipped the Mustangs 9-2.

“Everybody seems to be buying in on the team as far as our practices are going. Everybody’s there. They’re working hard. We’ve got a good bunch of kids. They pay attention,” said Sautner.

“Whatever we try to do, they seem to pick it up and they work hard doing it. That leads to a lot of success,” he said.

“I’ve never had a better bunch of kids, just well behaved. It’s been awesome,” said the coach.
