The West Central Wheat Kings defeated the Melfort Mustangs 6-2 in the first game of their opening round series on the weekend in Kindersley.

Game 2 of this series will be played Feb. 24 in Melfort. Game three, if necessary, is set for Feb. 25 back in Kindersley.

Providing the offence in game one were Landon Nash (2) with singles added by Cole Reschny, Kaden Veller, Brett Bahm and Boston Dipple.

Blake Sittler earned the win in net.

In other first-round series, Tisdale defeated Battleford 4-2 in their first game and Humboldt topped Warman 7-4.

Bantam

The West Central Wheat Kings will take on Team Northeast in the second round series of play.

Northeast defeated the Saskatoon Maniacs in two straight games to advance.

Game 1 will be played in Kerrobert tonight at 7 p.m., followed by game two Feb. 25 on the road and game three, if necessary, will be played Feb. 28 in Kerrobert at 7 p.m.

In the other second-round series, the Saskatoon Outlaws will take on Warman; the Saskatoon Stallions will take on Prince Albert and the Saskatoon General will play Humboldt.

Female midget

The fourth-place West Central Wheat Kings will take on the fifth-place Melfort Mustangs in their opening round series.

Game 1 was scheduled to take place this past Wednesday in Melfort. Game 2 will take place in Dodsland Saturday at 7 p.m. Game 3, if necessary, will be played Feb. 25 in Kindersley at noon.

In the other series, the Saskatoon Chargers defeated the Battleford Sharks in two straight overtime games to advance to round two against the Saskatoon Legends. The Saskatoon Impact won their series over the Prince Albert Foxes in two straight games to advance to the league semifinals.
