The Kindersley Sr. Klippers and Wilkie Outlaws have yet to lose this season, and the two undefeated teams are tied for first in the Sask West Hockey League.

Kindersley and Wilkie both won a pair of games last week to keep pace with each other. Two teams have played six games, three teams have played five games and the Macklin Mohawks have only played three games so far in the young 2018-19 SWHL season.

The Sr. Klippers were in Unity on Nov. 21 for a mid-week Wednesday match up against the Miners. Kindersley defeated Unity by a score of 8-5. The Biggar Nationals were in Kindersley on Nov. 24 and Sr. Klippers’ goalie Luke Sproule recorded his first shutout of the season in the 5-0 win.

Sproule’s shutout is the only one in the SWHL so far this season and he stopped 43 shots to earn it. Biggar could have been feeling the ill effects of a game the day before in Wilkie when the Nationals took the Outlaws to overtime.

Wilkie defeated the Nationals by a score of 3-2 in overtime, but Biggar had a strong showing against the league’s four-time defending champions. Wilkie travelled to Macklin on Nov. 24 and the Outlaws defeated the Mohawks by a score of 5-3 in another close game.

In the only other game last weekend, the Luseland Mallards played host to Unity on Nov. 23 and the Miners defeated the Mallards by a score of 9-6. Luseland has yet to win this season, but the Mallards put up a good fight against the Miners.

Kindersley (5-0) and Wilkie (5-0) both have 10 points to sit tied atop the SWHL standings. The Sr. Klippers and Outlaws play their first game head-to-head on Dec. 15 in Wilkie. Biggar (3-2-1) sits alone in the standings in third with seven points while Unity (2-3) has four points, Macklin (0-2-1) has one point and Luseland (0-6) is still looking for a point.

There are four games scheduled for this weekend. Luseland is in Wilkie and Unity is in Kindersley tonight with both games scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. Biggar is in Macklin on Dec. 1 starting at 8 p.m., and Wilkie is in Macklin on Dec. 2 to play a matinee game at 3:30 p.m.
