The Wilkie Outlaws have likely never lost consecutive home games on back-to-back nights since joining the Sask West Hockey League. It happened last weekend.

There is only one undefeated team left standing in the SWHL. The Kindersley Sr. Klippers still have a perfect record at 9-0 and they earned a big road win in Wilkie on Saturday night. The Sr. Klippers won the game in Wilkie on Dec. 15 by a score of 4-3.

A night earlier on Dec. 14, the Macklin Mohawks beat the Outlaws in overtime by a score of 4-3 at the SaskCan Community Centre. Wilkie now falls to 8-1-1 on the season, but they still have a stranglehold on second place with 17 points. The Biggar Nationals (4-4-1) are in third with nine points.

Kindersley now sits in sole possession of first place with 18 points and the team has a game in hand on the four-time defending SWHL champions from Wilkie. The Mohawks had 32 shots to only 26 shots for Wilkie, but the Outlaws had 40 shots to only 32 shots for Kindersley.

Wilkie doubled up Kindersley in shots 18-9 in the third period. The Sr. Klippers scored early in the third period to make the score 4-1, but the Outlaws clawed their way back and they fell one goal short of a comeback.

The Mohawks had a busy weekend. There were four games on the SWHL schedule and Macklin played in three of them. After defeating the Outlaws on Friday, Macklin beat Biggar by a score of 6-5 on Dec. 15 in Macklin and the Unity Miners knocked off a presumably tired Mohawks team by a score of 6-4 on Dec. 16 in Macklin.

Macklin had moved a point ahead of Unity before their game on Sunday, but the win helped the Miners to move back into fourth place. The Miners (3-5) are in fourth with six points while the Mohawks (2-5-1) are in fifth with five points and the Luseland Mallards (0-8) are lingering in last place.

There are four games on the SWHL schedule this weekend. Wilkie is in Biggar tonight at 8:30 p.m., and then Unity is in Wilkie tomorrow for a game at 7:30 p.m. Luseland is in Kindersley tomorrow at 8 p.m., and then Macklin is in Luseland on Dec. 23 for a game at 6 p.m.
