The Rosetown Angels and Kindersley Stallions have won their quarter-final match ups to advance to the Fertile Valley Baseball League semi-finals. The semis started yesterday.

Both of the FVBL quarter-finals needed a third game to decide the teams that would advance to the semis. The third games were played on July 17. The Stallions hosted the Outlook River Hawks and Rosetown hosted the Elrose Aces.

The Stallions won Game 3 in a landslide by a score of 14-1 and the game was stopped after the top half of the sixth inning. Outlook won Game 2 by a score of 11-2 at home on July 12 and the Stallions won Game 1 by a score of 5-1. Pitcher Corson Harris pitched all 13 innings in games 1 and 3, allowing only two runs total.

In Rosetown, the Angels took the deciding Game 3 by a score of 9-5 in Rosetown. Elrose had taken Game 1 by a score of 8-4 on the road, but Rosetown returned the favour by taking Game 2 with a score of 4-0 on July 12 in Elrose. It was the more closely contested series of the quarter-finals.

The 2018 pennant winning Oyen Eagles will now play the Stallions in the first best-of-three semifinal and Rosetown is going to face the Kindersley Raiders in the other semifinal. The Raiders and Angels have been very familiar foes in the FVBL playoffs.

Rosetown (5) and the Raiders (2) are the only two teams to win FVBL championships in the league’s seven-year history. The two teams met in the semi-finals in 2017, and the Raiders won the series and would go on to win the league title. The two teams also matched up in the finals each year from 2013 to 2016.

Game 1 of the Raiders and Angels series was scheduled to be played last night in Kindersley, so the score was unavailable in time for publication. The dates for games two and three of the series have not been determined.

The date for Game 1 of the Eagles and Stallions series had not been determined as of Wednesday, and the dates for games two and three are also to be determined. People could check the league website at www.fvbl.ca for information about the semi-finals.
