The Eston Ramblers and Elrose Aces continue to fight for playoff positioning in the last week of play in the SVHL

It’s down to the wire in the Sask Valley Hockey League with 11 games on tap this week.

There’s a huge logjam on top of the standings with two points separating the top five teams.

Current standings (not included is last Wednesday’s game between Kyle and Elrose): 1. Outlook 18 games played, 13 wins, 5 losses, 0 overtime losses for 26 points. 2. Kyle 16-13-3-0-26; 3. Beechy 17-12-4-1-25. 4. Eston 15-12-2-1-25; 5. Central Butte 17-12-5-0-24; 6. Delisle 18-6-11-0-1-13; 7. Kenaston 18-4-14-0-8; 8. Elrose 17-3-14-0-6; 9. Loreburn 18-2-15-1-5.

Games this weekend: Friday – Kyle in Elrose; Eston in Delisle and Central Butte is in Outlook. Jan. 27 – Kenaston in Central Butte; Eston in Loreburn. Jan. 28 – Delisle in Outlook; Eston in Beechy and Elrose is in Kenaston. Jan. 31 – Elrose in Kyle and Loreburn in Eston.

The top three teams get to choose their first-round opponent in the playoffs.

Scores from last week: Jan. 17 –Central Butte 4 in Loreburn 3. Jan. 19 – Kyle 8 in Loreburn 2; Outlook 4 in Delisle 3; and Elrose 7 in Central Butte 16. Jan. 20 – Elrose 4 in Beechy 18; Kenaston 8 in Loreburn 2; Oultook 2 in Kyle 10. Jan. 21 – Central Butte 6 in Beechy 8 and Delisle 4 in Kenaston 5. One game was played Jan. 24 as well, that had Kyle visit Elrose, but no results were available.

Playoff dates:

• Round 1 – Best of five. This will be played by Feb. 18.
• Round 2 – Best of five. Feb. 19 to March 11.
• Finals – Best of five (or best of seven if both teams agree). March 12 to 31.

Senior B

• Oulook vs Rosthern, Feb. 3 in Rosthern; Feb. 10 in Outlook.
• Beechy vs Biggar, March 2 in Beechy and March 3 in Biggar.

Senior C

• Delisle vs Drake, Feb. 2 in Delisle. Feb. 9 in Drake.

Senior D

• Loreburn vs Luseland, Feb. 10 in Loreburn. Feb. 17 in Luseland.
• Kyle vs Craik, Jan. 31 in Kyle; Feb. 3 in Craik.
• Central Butte vs Strasbourg
