The final four games in the Sask Valley Hockey League are of the utmost importance heading into the playoffs.

Last Wednesday, Elrose was scheduled to visit Kyle and Loreburn was to be in Eston. This Friday, Beechy was scheduled to travel to Central Butte and Kyle takes on the Ramblers in Eston.

The Eston Ramblers (shown here in white) will take on Kyle and with a win, could finish the season in first place.

Kyle leads Eston by just one point, so first place may come down to that final game in Eston on Friday. On that final day, Beechy, with a win could also leapfrog over Central Butte for fourth place in the league, which could also be important.

Last week’s action: Jan. 24 – Beechy 3 in Kyle 6. Jan. 26 – Kyle 5 in Elrose 2; Eston 4 in Delisle 6; and Central Butte 2 in Outlook 9. Jan. 27 – Kenaston 3 in Central Butte 6; Eston 10 in Loreburn 4. Jan. 28 – Delisle 4 in Outlook 3; Eston 7 in Beechy 1; Elrose 1 in Kenaston 12.

Standings heading into this week: 1. Kyle 15 wins, 3 losses, 0 overtime losses, 30 points; 2. Eston 14-3-1-29; 3. Outlook 14-6-0-28; 4. Central Butte 13-6-0-26; 5. Beechy 12-6-1-25; 6. Delisle 8-11-1-17; 7. Kenaston 5-15-0-10; 8. Elrose 3-16-0-6; 9. Loreburn 2-16-1-5.

The top three teams will get to choose their first round opponent in playoffs.

Playoff dates:

Round 1, best of five. This will be played from Feb. 2 to 18.

Round 2, best of five. Feb. 19 to March 11.

Finals, best of five (or best of seven if both teams agree). March 12 to 31.
