The Wilkie Outlaws and the Kindersley Red Lions disposed of their opponents in quick fashion in their respective Sask West Hockey League quarter-final matches and now await semifinal opponents.
The first-place Outlaws defeated the eighth-place Luseland Mallards by scores of 12-5 and 12-3 to advance. Wilkie’s Rory Gregoire led the team in scoring with hat tricks in both games and the Outlaws outshot their opponents 118-74 in those two games.
Meanwhile, the third-place Kindersley Red Lions defeated the Biggar Nationals, winning game one 2-1 in overtime and game two 5-1.

The fifth-place Unity Miners are taking on the fourth-place Eatonia Huskies. The Miners earned a 4-1 victory in their opening game last weekend. Game two is set for Saturday at 8 p.m. in Unity and game three, if necessary, will be played back in Eatonia on Sunday at 5 p.m.
The series between the second-place Macklin Mohawks and the seventh-place Kerrobert Tigers was expected to begin on Wednesday in Macklin. Game two will be played tonight (Friday) in Kerrobert at 8:30 p.m. and, if necessary, game three is slotted for Saturday at 8 p.m. in Macklin.
Provincial play
The Kindersley Red Lions defeated the Shaunavon Badgers 5-1 in game one of their provincial A series played Feb. 4 in Kindersley. Game two will be played in Shaunavon tonight and game three is scheduled for Sunday back in Shaunavon, if necessary.
Wilkie begins their quest for a championship against the Hillmond Hitmen on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Wilkie. Game 2 will be played Feb. 17 in Hillmond, and game three is set for Feb. 19 in Wilkie.
The Unity Miners take on the Eston Ramblers in their first round series, which begins in Eston tonight (Friday). Game 2 is slated for Feb. 17 in Unity.
The Biggar Nationals take on the Beechy Bombers in their B semifinal series. Game 1 is March 2 in Beechy and game two is set for March 3 in Biggar.
The Kerrobert Tigers are up 1-0 in their provincial C series after a 6-2 win over the hometown Lanigan Pirates in game one. Game 2 will be played Feb. 17 in Kerrobert.
The Macklin Mohawks have to play catch-up in their series against the Hafford Hawks. They lost game one 4-1. Game two is set for Feb. 17 in Macklin.
The Eatonia Huskies are waiting for the winner of the Hodgeville/Gull Lake series. Gull Lake defeated Hodgeville 6-5 in game one. Game two will be played Feb. 10 in Hodgeville.
The Luseland Mallards and Loreburn 19ers begin their series on Saturday in Loreburn, followed by game two on Feb. 17 in Luseland.
