The Saskatchewan government is putting fire bans in place at its provincial parks, and municipalities are also enacting fire bans due to the dry conditions.
There is minimal precipitation in the forecast for the next several days, according to weather reports on Wednesday.
The province has issued fire bans in all provincial parks south of the Churchill River and municipalities across the province are also putting bans in place.
Several municipalities are reporting their fire bans to the provincial government. People could search for “municipal fire bans” at publications.gov.sk.ca to see the ban list. Not all bans are included on the list.
The RM of Kindersley has a full fire ban in place and the ban was issued on May 15. The ban in Kindersley includes any burning barrel fires, recreational fires, smudge fires, fireworks and incinerators, according to the municipality’s website.
Municipalities in the Crossroads coverage area on the province’s fire ban list as of May 15 include the rural municipalities of Fox Valley, Victory, Happyland and Chesterfield. The ban includes areas of the towns of Eatonia and Leader, according to the list. People are encouraged to check with their municipalities to see if bans are in place.
