The West Central Peewee Wheat Kings are going through a bit of a rough patch, but they hope to correct that this week.
The Wheat Kings lost four straight league games in December, including two last weekend In Prince Albert.
The team was scheduled to host the Battlefords Barons last Wednesday in Unity and the Warman Wildcats on Thursday in Macklin.
In Prince Albert, the Wheat Kings lost their latest game, Dec. 17, by a score of 5-1. With a short bench, Austin Shepherd was the lone goal scorer for the Wheat Kings.
The day before, the Wheat Kings’ Boston Dipple scored first on the power play in the first period, but Prince Albert scored three unanswered later in the first and in the second to get the win.

Following the Christmas break, the squad will host Prince Albert for a two-game set, Jan. 6 in Eston and Jan. 7 in Kindersley.
Coming into this week, the Wheat Kings were in fourth in the Centre Four Hockey League with a 8-5-1 record for 17 points, two behind Prince Albert.
Bantams
The Bantam Wheat Kings earned two big wins on the weekend, beating the North East Wolfpack 7-4 Dec. 15 in Melfort and the Prairie Storm Extreme Hockey Lightning team, 5-2, in Balgonie Dec. 16.
They will host the Battlefords Barons tonight in Macklin, before travelling to Warman to take on the Wildcats Saturday afternoon.
In last Saturday’s win, Kyle Heintz, Eric Robbie, Tylin Hilbig, Zak Dean and Logan Linklater scored for the Wheat Kings, while Noah Martens picked up the win in net.
In Melfort, Garin Scherr, Kyle Heintz (2), Logan Linklater (2), Carter Cormier (2),scored for the Wheat Kings. Martens picked up the win in this one as well.
Midget girls
The girls were busy last weekend, earning one win in three games.
In their latest action, they defeated the Saskatoon Impact, 5-4 in Eston on Dec. 17. This was after they lost 3-1 to the Impact in Saskatoon the day before. Friday, Dec. 15, in Saskatoon, they dropped a 3-2 decision to the first-place Saskatoon Legends.
The team now takes a break before returning to action Jan. 6 against the Impact in Dodsland and they return the favour, heading back to Saskatoon Jan. 7.
Scoring for the Wheat Kings in the Dec. 17 game were Mason Weese, Keely Anderson, Kassidy Peters, Mackenzie Powers and Brooklyn Rublee. Tori Stevens stopped 24/28 shots in the win.
Scoring in the Dec. 16 game was Elena Smith. Emerald Skinner stopped 30 of 33 shots for the Wheat Kings in this one.
In the Dec. 15 game, Smith and Rublee scored for the Wheat Kings, while Tori Steven stopped 23 of 26 shots in the loss.
The Wheat Kings sit in third in the North Sask Female Hockey League with a record of 5-5-2 for 12 points.
