Peewees
The West Central Wheat Kings peewees closed out their season last weekend with three games on the road.
They lost to Tisdale 5-4 on Frida, tied Melfort at 5-5 on Saturday, before coming back to defeat them 8-1 on Sunday.
The Wheat Kings finish their season with a record of 13-8-3 for 29 points and finished in third place behind Tisdale (34 points) and Prince Albert (36). Both teams have a few more games to play.
Goal scorers from Friday’s game were Landon Nash (2), Dayton Reschny and Kaden Veller.
Providing the offence Saturday were Brett Bahm (2), Ethan Sautner, Reschny and Nash.
Sunday’s goal scorers were Austin Shepherd, Karson Blanchette and Veller, each with two goals. Reschny and Bahm added singles.
The final games will be played this weekend and playoff match-ups will be decided.
Top point-getter on the season was Austin Shepherd, who had 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points.

Bantam
The West Central Wheat Kings’ offence exploded on the weekend to close out their season.
The team played two games and outscored their opponents 29-1.
They played the Warman Wildcats in Unity on Saturday afternoon and came away with an 8-1 victory. In their second game, they defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors 21-0. The Warriors didn’t win a game this season.
These wins improved the Wheat Kings’ record to 24-5-2 for 50 points on the season, good enough to finish in second place in the North Division standings.
They finish just one point behind the Saskatoon Outlaws and two points ahead of the Prince Albert Pirates.
The top four teams – the Outlaws, Wheat Kings, Pirates and Humboldt Broncos – get byes into the second round of the North Division playoffs.
All first-round series will be decided this Friday or Saturday.
Scoring for the Wheat Kings in Saturday’s game were Kyle Heintz (2), Austin Reschny, Carter Cormier, Logan Linklater, Gavin Halter-Metcalf, Jack Hartsook and Tylin Hilbig.
Leading the offence in Sunday’s game were Linklater and Tylin Hilbig, each with three goals. Adding deuces were Brody Gasmo, Jakin Lawrence, Austin Reschny and Kyle Heintz. Chipping in singles were Eric Robbie, Ethan Hilbig, Zak Dean, Carter Cormier, Kayden Ostrom, Gavin Halter-Metcalf and Jack Hartsook.
The team’s top point-getter this season is Logan Linklater, who lit the lamp 23 times and chipped in 49 assists for 72 points.
Female midget AA
The West Central Wheat Kings closed out their season last weekend – and it wasn’t the way they wanted it to go.
They played three games in three nights and dropped all three. They lost their latest game, 6-2 to the Saskatoon Chargers in Saskatoon on Sunday. Saturday afternoon, they lost 5-4 to the Battlefords Sharks in Dodsland. Friday, they lost 5-0 to the same Sharks squad.
The Wheat Kings finish the regular season in fourth place and will take on the fifth-place Melfort Mustangs in their opening playoff series. The Mustangs finished just one point behind the Wheat Kings.
The Wheat Kings have a record of 9-11-4 for 22 points and the Mustangs finish with a record of 9-12-3 for 21 points.
In other match-ups: Saskatoon Impact (second) vs P.A. Foxes (seventh) and the Battlefords Sharks (third) will take on the Saskatoon Chargers (sixth). No dates have been set as of yet.
Top scorers for the Wheat Kings are: Brooklyn Rublee, who finished second in the league in scoring had 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points. Elena Smith finished third in league scoring and had the same amount of point with 33, but had 14 goals and 19 assists.
