Rosemarie Falk clear winner in federal byelection

Conservative Rosemarie Falk was the clear winner on Monday in the Battlefords-Lloydminster federal riding byelection.

Conservative representative Rosemarie Falk was the clear winner in Monday’s byelection

Falk garnered 8,965 votes or 69.6 per cent of the total vote to maintain the riding for the Conservative Party. A total of 12,889 votes were cast.

Conservative MP Gerry Ritz, also the former agriculture minister, held the riding for the past 20 years. He decided to retire from politics earlier this year, invoking a byelection.

Falk was born and raised in Lloydminster and is a trained social worker. She was also the former legislative assistant for member of Parliament Arnold Vierson.

Finishing second in the election was Matt Fedler of the NDP, who picked up 1,698 votes. Others running in the election were Larry Ingram, Liberal, 1,345 votes; Ken Finlayson, independent, 681 votes; and Yvonne Potter-Pihach, Green Party, 200 votes.
