Wilkie Outlaws win fourth straight SWHL championship

The Wilkie Outlaws are the Sask. West Hockey League champions after sweeping the Kindersley Red Lions in their championship series. The Outlaws have now won four straight titles.

The Wilkie Outlaws swept the Kindersley Red Lions in their best-of-five championship series.

The Outlaws won game three of the Sask. West Hockey League final on Friday in Wilkie, by a score of 10-2 against a beleaguered Red Lions’ squad.

The Outlaws won each period, up 3-1 after the first period and 7-2 after the middle frame in this fight-filled affair.

Providing the offence for the Outlaws were Brock Harrison (3), Ryan Keller (2) and singles were added by Kendall Fransoo, Garrett Cameron, Rory Gregoire, Mitch Suchan and Robert Keller.

The Outlaws outshot the Red Lions by a count of 55-21. Jared Herle picked up the win for the Outlaws and a shell-shocked Luke Sproule was in net for the Red Lions.

The Outlaws won all eight games they played during the playoffs sweeping the Luseland Mallards in two straight and the Unity Miners in three straight to make the finals.

The Red Lions, on the other hand, defeated the Biggar Nationals in round one two games to none and it took five game to dispose of the Macklin Mohawks in the semifinals.
